Finding Solutions to ProblemsBroward County Public Schools chooses All American for pressure cleaning, waterproofing, painting, and sandblasting

Client: Broward County School Board
Location: Broward County, FL

Broward County School Board was experiencing difficulty in identifying a vendor that could address a very serious paint build-up, cracking, peeling and discoloration problem. At this point, the required painting could not be properly done until all that build-up was removed to expose a ready-to-paint surface. After several contracts with vendors and subsequent failed attempts to have the job completed satisfactorily, All American Pressure Cleaning and Painting was referred as a possible vendor who could address the problem. We conducted a demonstration for the Broward School Board's project manager, and impressed him with our special techniques and ability to perform this type of work. As a result, we got the contract and AAPCP continues to be the vendor of choice for that agency, for their pressure cleaning, painting, sandblasting and waterproofing jobs.

State of the Art EquipmentWalmart in North Lauderdale Florida recommends All American Pressure Cleaning and Painting

Client: Miami Dade College
Location: Miami and Miami-Dade County

AAPCP has invested considerably in state-of-the-art equipment that guarantees faster and more complete service, thus enhancing our ability to complete all jobs more quickly, at a cost savings to the company and ultimately, our customers. As a result, we have been able to deliver many jobs ahead of schedule, and we are not afraid to be innovative and to do what is necessary to get the job done.

Miami-Dade College has an 11-story parking garage that is 230,000 square feet in size. Because of the low water pressure in the garage above the 5th floor, portable trailers with water tanks were needed to effectively clean the upper floors.

Upon learning of the professional effective job we did for the Broward County School Board, Miami-Dade College awarded the pressure-cleaning job for this 11-story garage to AAPCP.

In receiving the contract award, and being faced with the same problem, AAPCP purchased a special trailer, at a cost of $26,000 that was conducive to proper cleaning of the floors for the upper levels. Although our company was only able to break-even on that job, as a result of this unbudgeted expenditure, we were able to recoup our expenses on subsequent contracts with the College, being the only small business with equipment to accommodate these type projects in such facilities. We have since been able to use the trailer as an effective back-up on other projects as well.

Solutions for the Community and the Environment

Miami-Dade Park and Rec

Job: Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation
Location: Miami-Dade County, Florida

Two years ago, Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department filed a bid for pressure cleaning and painting for a very difficult project. AAPCP observed that the bid had been placed on the market several times; no one attended the invitations to bid and thus we submitted a proposal on the project and we won. It was a bitter-sweet accomplishment. There were three issues of concern with this project:

  1. The project was located by the Bay, which presented environmental concerns. As a result no "spray-painting" was allowed. Everything had to be contained and painting had to be done by hand-in short, it was more labor-intensive than other similar projects, because of its location. AAPCP was destined to perform this project at a loss.

  2. The project was located by the Bay, which presented environmental concerns. As a result no "spray-painting" was allowed. Everything had to be contained and painting had to be done by hand-in short, it was more labor-intensive than other similar projects, because of its location. AAPCP was destined to perform this project at a loss.

  3. The project had to be completed within 30 days.

Mr. Boreland contemplated rejecting the project, but didn't want to be labeled as being 'unable to perform.' At a networking session, Mr. Boreland met the Administrator of Job Corps of Miami and explained his dilemma. The two struck an agreement and AAPCP was able to provide 10 Job Corps workers on daily five-hour shifts for the project. As a result, the company was able to complete the job and provide on-the-job training (OJT) to 10 individuals, two of whom were hired on a full-time basis, at the close of the contract.

IItem two was addressed by a brainstorm that Mr. Boreland had by using a latex glove covered with a sock. They were able to dip the socks into the paint and perform a smooth paint job on the very awkward and intricately-designed handrails, and with no dripping.

Because of the innovative thinking of the AAPCP's president, the contract with Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation was completed 17 days ahead of schedule, within budget, and created On-the-Job-Training opportunities for 10 people, and full-time employment for two others, which provided a higher profitability for the company.

AAPCP has since won two additional bids with Parks and Recreation, and continues to utilize Job Corps workers, as appropriately needed.
